Look of the Week: Eva Mendes

Eva Mendes channelled Old Hollywood glamour on the red carpet last night in a gorgeous Prada gown

Eva Mendes looked stunning at the premiere of her new film The Place Beyond The Pines in New York City last night. Mendes wore a beautiful orange long sleeved Prada dress to the event, which featured a stunning floral and butterfly embellishment on the waist. Eva complimented the look with a pair of gorgeous peach satin heels and Lorraine Schwartz jewels.

Eva attended the event with her co-star and current beau Ryan Gosling, who wore a vintage velvet suit to the event.  The pair are one of Hollywood's most fashionable couples, so it was no surprise that they wore complementary outfits.

Stella McCartney collects her OBE

The designer with her medal outside Buckingham Palace

Stella McCartney looked stunning yesterday as she collected her OBE from the Queen at Buckingham Palace for her services to the fashion industry. The designer seemed to be channeling the late Duchess of Windsor Wallis Simpson in her custom navy skirt suit from her own label. This was a very prestigious honour for the Stella, who has become one of Britain's most high profile fashion designers since launching her own company in 2001. The talented designer spoke of her excitement in receiving the award at the event saying "I feel really proud and really excited and honoured to be here."

Suzy Menkes' article 'The Circus of Fashion' which was published in the New York Times in early February caused much debate in the fashion industry about the current media circus surrounding fashion month each season. And Meekes isn't the only one getting in on the action, style.com's Tim Blanks (a fellow Kiwi and legendary fashion journalist) tells Garage Magazine his point of view about the chaos and frenzy that is Fashion Month. See details below:

Anna Wintour's New Role:

On Wednesday it was announced by Conde Nast CEO Charles H Townsend that Anna Wintour has just been appointed the new Artistic Director of Condé Nast. Townsend states that Wintour's new position is a way to "leverage Anna's extraordinary vision and leadership'' within the company. Wintour's new role is one of many which the legendary editor upholds; she currently edits American Vogue (she was first appointed in 1988), is the editorial director of Teen Vogue, runs Fashion Night out, is a member of Barack Obama's Arts and Humanities Committee and is 'an elective trustee of The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City'. This new position proves once and again what an influential figure Anna Wintour has become within the fashion and publishing industry.

Opening Ceremony Fall 2013:

Humberto Leon and Carol Lim displayed another outstanding collection for Opening Ceremony today. The Fall collection was inspired by the bright lights of 'Las Vegas', with the designer duo stating that they wanted to emulate a David Lynch style sin city "one surreal and poetically noir". Stand out pieces amongst the collection was the high waisted black trousers, rose jumper, metallic skirt and fur trimmed jacket. Below are a few looks from their Fall Collection:

A mad dash of Alice:

Today we are channeling Alice in Wonderland, and to give you a bit of inspiration here is one of my absolute favourtie Vogue shoots, from the December 2004 US Edition; captured by the amazing Annie Leibovitz, starring Natalia Vodianova and styled by Grace Coddington.

"If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is because everything would be what it isn't. And contray-wise; what it is it wouldn't be, and what it wouldn't be, it would be. You see?"
