80's Style Icons:

Recently I wrote an article on 80's fashion icons for AUT's Debate magazine. The 1980's is one of my favourite eras as there was such a wide variety of different looks; from iconic punks such as Debbie Harry and Vivienne Westwood, to Madonna's famed tutu skirts and lace hair bows and Cindy Lauper's crazy colourful dresses to Joan Collin's power suits in Dynasty - it was such an exciting time in fashion!

Below is the first look at my article for Debate - enjoy!

These ten formidable women defined the style of the 1980’s, whether it was Madonna’s tutu skirts and lace gloves, Joan Collins iconic Dynasty look or Princess Diana’s royal elegance, these women were the style icons of a generation.

Madonna solidified her status as the new Queen of pop at the 1984 VMA’s.
Big hats, shoulder pads and power suits defined Joan Collins character Alexis in the hit show Dynasty.
Supermodel Brooke Shields was the ‘It girl’ of the 80’s, landing contracts with Calvin Klein and film roles such as Blue Lagoon.

Grace Jones distinctive androgynous look and unique voice propelled her into superstardom in the 1980s.
Melanie Griffith’s power suits in the 1988 film Working Girl was a defining fashion moment for the then up and coming actress.
Queen of punk Debbie Harry was known for her effortlessly cool style in the 80’s.
Michelle Pfeiffer’s 1983 breakout performance in Scarface turned her into a Hollywood legend.
Princess Diana of Whales is one of the most iconic figures of our time and a leading fashion icon, pictured here on a royal tour of Hong Kong in 1988.
Molly Ringwald was an 80’s icon, a member of Hollywood’s infamous ‘Brat Pack’, Ringwald appeared in iconic 80’s films such as Sixteen CandlesThe Breakfast Club and Pretty in Pink.
Cher’s Bob Mackie gown caused quite a stir at the 1986 Oscars.

Loving Right Now: Ray Ban Caravan

Right now I am currently obsessed with Ray Ban's Caravan sunglasses. I have spotted the sunglasses on the Olsen twins a lot recently and think they are a really chic frame, which would look good with any outfit.

They currently retail at $135 USD at ray ban retailers, to shop the look click here:

Below are some of my favourite looks of the Olsen twins in the Caravan sunglasses.

Enjoy!
